On my tilt front, the hinges are 2 bolts that go through the frame extention.

I am making my stocker a tilt. I glassed in an L-88 hood scoop & it turned out well. While I am doing the tilt, I purchased new old stock 70-72 fenders from the center of the wheel opening back. I will install then be able to install the "cheese grater" grills!. Also, I was looking at the hood area. I may be able to integrate the 73 grill opening behind the radiator, infront & to the side of the hood scoop rise on both sides to let trapped air escape. let me know your thoughts.

might want to tilt it like mine, all the way in the front...that way you can properly open it and work under it. I have a totally new hige mechanism and front end from what I had before, this one is much lighter but I don't have pics..this is the old one:

I'll see if I can get some pics of how I have it now...I just have a closed flip front pic:

thanks tt. and also anyone else that has submitted. Close up pics are appreciated & tips. Question. Should I cut the fender on the body line while it is still attached to the car, or after removal? jim

this is how mines set up. it has an adjustable eyebolt for the height of the hood that attaches to an L bracket thats also adjustable for moving hood closer or farther away. thats it, 2 bolts hold the hood on and a rod to keep it proped open. your probably better off following in gransport or twin turbos footsteps. check my site for more pics

You are not the only one, ccgorman I think saw red x's also. Weird as the pics are just hosted on my ISPs server, nothing fancy. Try if you can browse this: http://members.home.nl/m.b.p.jongman/?C=M;O=D

Mine is very similar to Rosslato's. I would post pics tonight, but it is my wife's and my daugher's birthdays, so no chance of getting to the garage. I think the brackets that came with the Eckler's front ends are kind of flimsy and I am working on something a little more GM like.

I know this won't help you guys but I had never seen this done to a C1 before:

Here's some pics of my hinge ver. 2.00 This won't fit a stock chassis at all but it may give some ideas...

I also have gas struts on the front but I need 2 more, these 2 don't hold the hood up....just. I think 1 more would do but I'll mount them in pairs.

That is some wild stuff TT. I just want to improve on the Ecklers brackets. They are just a piece of angle iron bolted on to the frame horn with a single bolt. Even when they are bolted up tight there is potential for movement from side to side as well as foward and back. I currently have a gas hood lift mounted in the same area, that I am sure is going to interfere with 17", 18" or 19" wheel and tire combinations. I have a set of convertible top hydraulics and pump that I intended to use to raise and lower the front end at the push of a button. It seems that with the hydraulics, I could eliminate the Mr Gasket hood pins that Ecklers included to replace the hood latches. I came to the conclusion that there was no good place to mount the hydrualics. My plan is now to mount shorter gas lifts to the original hood hinge mounts where the inner fender is attached to the radiator support I just haven't figured out all of the geometry yet. The tilt front end has to be removed if you want to do anything more than check the oil or adjust the carburetor. Unless of course you like hitting your head on stuff.

That's one of the reasons why I built my own, apart from there not being anything for the 80-82 model and the long nose would mean you can't open the front at all without it scraping..I have no problem working under there...in fact I think I could do a little dance in front of the radiator It'll go open much further than in the pic, in fact it can open way beyond straight up if not for the gas struts
