Default Why is my 82 not worth more than this???

I had deceided to sell one of my Vett's, so after long and hard deliberation, I decided to let the 82 go. I listed it on eBay last Sunday with a NO RESERVE. I "assumed" it would bring around $10K to $12K. It's a solid southern NO rust car with 80K miles. Looks and runs nice. however, it is not doing very well. Any ideas why???

Here's the auction link.

Still 2 days left, it will climb but you shoud have put a reserve on it just to be safe, would suck to give it away

many don't buy cars (especially old cars) on Ebay because of too many horror stories.... personally, I would not buy a car unseen....

Your car looks like it is worth more than the $7300 but who would bid/pay that for a car thathe/she hasn't seen in person ?

No reserve ? Be happy that the auction did not end at $1000

Well, I knew it would bring a lot more than the $1000 starting bid, and the little wifie explained to me that I have too many toys. One of them had to go, and go now. I recently bought a 1976, and one of the agreements was that I'd sell one of my other cars. (I currently have the 76, the 82, a 1980 MGB LE, and an early Jaguar.)

If it ends at the currnet $7300, I can live with it. However, I really need it to bring a couple thousand more. I have sold several classic cars on eBay over the years with no problem. What really suck is that I sold an early MGB driver a couple of months ago that brought more than the Corvette's bringing.

Oh well, hopefully it'll take off the last day.

Sounds like you have had good luck with selling on Ebay in the past. I have too (not cars, however). Without a reserve, all I can do is wish you luck. This is what the Ebay junkies live for, getting something on the cheap!
Again, best of luck.

Put it up with a reserve. No one bidding is going to want to spend any more than they have to.

When you say NO rust car, do you mean a New Orleans rust car? Or a car with no rust? Maybe that's the problem.

Don't worry, last minute snipers will get you over 10K. Hopefully.

Of course, I mean No Rust, as in none, never, nada. This car has been in the Birmingham Alabama area all of it's life. Surely no one thinks that means New Orleans. It is much cleaner than the 76 I have. It's just that my first Corvette ever was a 1976, and I got a chance to buy another one, same color, same year, and smae options.

The 82 is avery solid and nice driving car. Soomeone will be happy with it.

Why do guys surrender their nut-sack when they say "I do"? I just don't get it...remind her you may have too many cars, but not enough girlfriends...

But...on to the topic: I think this may be the wrong time of year (weather wise & economically). People are contemplating the cost of gasoline, home heating oil, etc.

I would have someone place a "shill bid" (shhh...big ) to bump to your "reserve" price. If no-sale, then pack it away until the spring.

Good luck!

Tony Sinclair,
I agree with you.
What is with all the macho tough guys who give up their toys as soon as wife or girlfriend tells them to.
It will be a cold day in hell when someone tells me what to do with what is mine. What's in my garage stays in my garage and he who dies with the most toys wins.

Do a little promoting/shake the trees in the For Sale sections of this and other web sites! $7,300 is a great price (for a buyer) for what I'm seeing, the price will jump towards the end. I've got an '81 and a tight garage or I'd be bidding!

No Reserve in my opinion tells the bidder his bid will buy it, go for it!!!

Good Luck!
JU

I bought my 76 on e-bay. I bid on several cars over a few weeks. Some were close enough to home that I was able to go look them over. I did bid on a few sight unseen. I did bid lower on the ones I couldn't see in person. The car I ended up getting was sight unseen and was exactly as advertised. I am very happy with it.

I did notice that the price usually shoots up the last few hours. One car I bid on went up $3000 in the last 2 hours.

Good luck, it looks like a nice car.

Hey guys,...chill with the Wussy stuff. I have a 2 car garage, and I have 3 toys at the moment. I think the wife is actually being fair. Having 3 toys is more than enough, and I "DID" agree to liquidate one before I decided to buy the 76.

I can't afford to keep up 3 cars, and I don't have the space. It was decided prior to buying the last Vette that I needed to sell one. Now I'm just finishing my purchase process from getting the 76.

Ebay can be difficult to explain. Searching on 80-82 corvettes that have been sold on ebay, I find the following prices:

9000, 4605, 12981, 12888, 5000, 5900, 14000,
9000, 8000, 5006, 5599, 4605, 8950, 12981,
16023, 4751, 7590, 6600

Pretty big spread, some of the cheap ones look rough, but some look OK.
