I have been checking out the forum for a very long time, I just don't post much. I have gotten alot of answers here....thanks! I am working on a 1970 454 4speed coupe. I bought it almost 2 years ago. It was a numbers matching, all original car. I planned on just cleaning it up and driving it.......but...........it's a little out of hand now. I've taken out the original 454 and 4speed and set them to the side. I just completed my 540 cc short block. I have AFR heads, mild crane hydraulic roller .632 .632, 256 264 @.050. I have a Keisler TKO 600 5 speed tranny for it, and I have completely cleaned, detailed, and painted the frame and suspension.
I am in the process of getting estimates for paint. If anyone knows a good painter in East Tennessee, let me know! I'll have the engine ready to drop in the car when I get it back.
Here are a few pics.....let me know what you think so far.
And finally......the old parts that won't be going back on. (Except for misc. interior pieces.) I'm planning to keep everything though, so in case I ever want to sell it, I will be able to put it back completely original. (Might be too much work, though, so I guess I'd better keep it! )
That's it so far! I can't wait to get it painted and throw it back together!! Hey Eddie70, you ARE going to help me arent you?
Wow man that looks awsome. One problem you might have is that brake booster. It might hit the valve covers. A good alternative is a www.hydroboost.com This type of system is much bettertha nthe vacuum and is much smaller. Good luck and you have made great progress so far.

Guys this is going to be one sweet ride when Mike gets it together. I have had the pleasure of getting a good close up look at it and let me tell you, the engine compartment and everything is as clean as it looks in the pics.
You know I want to help, I am ready to see this thing on the road as bad as anyone.
I am hoping to have it done by the end of May for the cruise-in. Just need to get busy, I pretty much have everything except for the fuel system and misc. interior pieces. I have had several estimates on paint and they are all in the 8k range which seems a bit high to me. I was thinking more like 5-6k since I have the car apart and white is the easiest to do and also white paint is cheaper. Thanks for the compliments, I cant wait to drive this thing. I also welcome any advice or criticism. Thanks, Mike
Gordonm, as far as the brake booster clearance I will probably notch out some fabricated sheet aluminum covers to clear. I have done that before on another project. I could probably even use a short style because I have no need to run a stud girdle with the beehive valve springs that I am going to use, they have relatively light pressure for the hyd. roller. The hydroboost would be the best set-up but I am using manual steering. I only want to have one belt seeing how I am going to be under powered and need all the help I can get.
