Stock shifter, or Aftermarket?
I was looking at my shifter on the 4 speed today, and I noticed that the shifter is a Hurst shifter.
Is this stock? Or was it an aftermarket part that was added by a previous owner?
I somehow don't think that's right, especially when it looks fairly fresh and shiny compared to the rest of the interior of the car...

The stock shifter is not a Hurst shifter. The stock shifter was sloppy on a good day, so many people converted over to the tighter Hurst Competition Plus (made specifically for the Vette). It makes a big improvement in the way the car feels - a nice aftermarket addition. For the Vette setup, Hurst makes a reverse "pull lever" that looks just like the factory setup - it's spring loaded and you can pull it. It's just not functional.
