i find great american racing wheels :
exactly the style i want for my vette , but i
want to know if 18x9

25 milimeter is almost 1" (off by .016")
A 9" wide rim with 1" offset has 5.5" backspacing, not 6"
Many have the TT2 rim in 8X17" with 4" backspacing, offset trailing arms may be required depending on the tire width... it doesn't matter how wide the rim is, you'll need 4" backspacing to clear the trailing arm and/or frame.
You also have to check if the spokes clear the calippers, this has nothing to do with backspacing.

with 1" 1/2 spacer ?
we need 4" backspacing for a 1980 vette ?
so if we have 4"1/2 or 5" backspacing , the wheels doesnt fit ?
if we use a 1"1/2 spacer for wheels whith 5"1/2 backspacing ,
is it ok or not ?
thanks,
Rom

They wont fit without adaptors.
Firstly offset and backsapce are 2 different measurments.
Offset - is the measurement of the mounting flange in relation to the center of the wheel. So a zero offset 17 x 8 wheel has the flange in the center.
Backspace is the distance from the rear of the moutning flasnge to the outer lip of the wheel. So the wheel above (17x 8 with 0 offset) will have a 4" + .5" (added for the lip) so a 4.5" backspace
Basically offset is a measurement against bead width , backspace is a measurement against actual width.
Back to your wheel, you will have to find 2" adaptors to push the wheel out to give you the stock 4" backspace.
Anyhting less than that the wheels will sit inside the wheel wells..not a pretty look IMHO.
This is no different than fitting the later C4,C5 style wheels on C3's.
