Chilton's or Hayne's?
I need an '82 Corvette repair manual and can't find any at my local auto parts stores. Well, I have a choice of buying a Chilton's or Hayne's manual on Ebay. Which one would y'all recommend? Is one better than the other? Thanks.

I have both for my year (1979), one explains and shows some items better than the other....
The shop manual is what you should buy first - by far the best book !!

I got the GM Shop manual (red cover) off ebay, it's been very, very helpful, I believe it has more content than Haynes, I've never been a fan of Chilton. Also got the assembly manual off ebay which is very useful, got a wiring diagram that's fair, check forum members suggestions on wiring diagrams. BTW, the GM manual I have also has a lot of color wiring diagrams as well. 95% of my reference was done using the GM manual.

I don't like either, really...Ever since I read a Haynes manual that showed a picture of disassembling a MacPherson strut using a socket on the top (MacPherson struts require a special tool to disassemble them, something that looks like a heavy duty Torx bit and a box wrench below that to break the nut loose), I've come to the conclusion that they don't know what they're talking about.
I personally use the Corvette shop manual and the Chevrolet service manual for repairs; there's a place in Riverside, CA that I have a link to that has manuals for darned near ANYTHING that is on wheels (and in the cases of boat engines, some things that don't) for reasonable prices.
I'll PM you the link when I get home tonight.

Get both as they have different info in them. You'll be glad you did when your Vette is apart at 2AM and you need to finish that project for the next morning.
