Default Photos of 295-50 tires on 8X15 rim needed...

As the title says.... post photos please....I would like to add some 'meat' on the rear axle but I'm not sure if I'm going to like that 295 tire on a 8" rim

The Tirerack spec. table says that the tire fits 8"-11" wide rims and the overall diameter is roundabout 26.6" (depends on manufacturer 26.5"-26.7 or so)

I know it looks great on a 10" wide rim......

TIA

Thanks for the photos

MotorHead:
That looks great, the sidewall seems to be about as tall as my 275-60s. Do you have more photos ??? ... what happened to the white letters on your front tire?

Turtlevette:
you mounted a 295 tire on the front ??

It's a better fit on 10" - when do they finally make these stock alus in better sizes

There should be a coupla pics in my photo album- just click to enlarge. The ones at the racetrack were taken after I mounted the 295s on my 8" rims- some of the other pics were w/ older tires.

Great photos

I just measured my 275-60 tire diameter (advertized to be 28") - it's only 26.75" mounted on the stock aluminum rim....... the 295-50 is advertized at 26.6" - what's the overall diameter when it's mounted on a 8" rim ?

I wonder why here's such a difference between advertized and actual dimensions ?

[QUOTE]

The leading edge of the wheel well just needed a little trimming.

I just did a ballpark measurement & it's right around 26" on mine. I'm guessing that with a narrower rim the sidewall bows out a bit & shortens the tire height.

Amen! 295s on the front can be done.

The front tires stick out a bit from the fender as you can see in the pictures, but amongst my other long-term goals I want to put ZR-1 wheels and tires (275/40-17 F & 315/35-17 R) on my car. If the pictures don't do them justice, my car also has fender flares on the rear that the 295s don't quite fill up, hence the desire to widen the rear and narrow the fronts.

Bad news: I don't know the width of these Eagle wheels. They were there when I bought the car.

Update: the rear steel spring is now a 360# fiberglass one, the old shocks are replaced, the exhaust (was 2") is completely cut out and she sits awaiting my restomodification. That's a whole 'nother topic though.

All pictures may be seen here: http://gcrall.miller-motorsports.com...oject+Corvette These are thumbnails, click on the image to open the full size version. Before you speak, yes, it is a 1969. I plan on giving it the stock rear upper deck and stock front fenders (egg-crate grilles and a bubble rear window just don't belong on a '69).

I can only imagine driving my car with some sticky tires like Kumho Ecsta V710s. My daily driven Rabbit on Falken Azenis (and suspension mods) is an absolute corner carver. I can't wait until I'm able to carve canyons in the asphalt with my Corvette.

Les, how's the LeMans Blue Beast? Steve tells me I need a ride in that thing.

It seems the 295 tire looks a lot wider than the 275-60 and is also close to the diameter of a 245-60 tire that I'm planning on mounting on the front...

I am also planning on flares, below is a photo of the 275-60 tires that I'm currently running with a 2" thick adapter/spacer. With ARP studs I am not concerned about loosing a wheel

The wheel is still not far enough out so that the flares look 'right' ... I hope it's better with the wider tires.

There is definately enough clearance to the end of the leaf spring

put on some real tires..something like > 400s or so
why are you running a spacer? 275/60/15s will fit without spacers and teven clear the parking brake cable bracket, iut's tight...also tight w/ the parking brake cable but on the later cars it will fit (it won't fit earlier cars, I think the difference is 78 up and earlier)

I had 275/60s on there, no spacers and it didn't stick out that much at all.

The photo below shows my current setup: 275-60 with 1" spacer. I don't quite understand how you were able to fit this tire without any clearance issues, if I mounted that wheel without spacer the tire would hit the spring and the parking brake bracket (which I removed).

Anyway, even with that 1" spacer it still doesn't stick out. I'm hoping that 2" spacer and the 295 tire fill the flares... I really want to keep the stock aluminum rims, maybe I have to modify the flares a little to make it look 'right'

it looks likes it sticks way out to me.

you are looking for trouble running those spacers.

That's a photo with the 2" spacer setup.

Why trouble ?? The "final" version will be bolted to the hub using 5 Arp 1/2" studs - then another 5 Arp 1/2" studs hold the rim on the spacer... that's never going to break...

Have you really fitted the wheel without the spacer? You might be surprised to find they do actually fit. I had a doog 1/4" -1/2" of clearance w/ the cable and bracket

Like turtle says, yours do stick out, mine did a little but nowhere near that much...maybe the outer edge of the sidewall and a little bit of the side thread did stick out.

It only looks like mine stick out further than yours .. that's because all my photos were taken with either a 1" or a 2" spacer

FWIW - I'm driving the car with a 1" spacer and the tires do not rub the rear fenders. I mounted the 2" spacers only to take the photos, it's not driveable.

Yours do stick out, I didn't have spacers...what I mean is, remove the spacer and try it, you may be surprised to find that it will fit. Your tires don't rub but if you drop the rear or somehow get the suspension to go into bump a long way then it will hit. Because the wheels camber in on bump mine barely missed the fender lip, I checked it w/ the spring removed and there was very little clearance so w/ a 1" spacer it would most likely hit.

Here you can see mine didn't stick out..evne though it's a crappy pic

275-60's. Had them mounted on the original rims and now TT2's. With the car on the ground I have about 0.5" clearance to the brake cable. No spacers. With the car on jack stands and suspension hanging they hit the cable...but when on the ground no issues at all..been running these all year.

They stick out just a bit which I like.
