Default Heating a garage

It's that time of the year in Virginia that I hate: cold.

I have a two car garage, about 22 x 25. I want to work out there but not freeze; yes I'm a wimp.

Would you recommend a portable electric or portable kerosene?

I don't want to install any permanent types. I'm thinking about one of those $200 kerosene torpedo looking ones from Lowes, but am wondering about the ventilation requirments.

Thanks.

Kerosene is good but the fumes are pretty bad. After about 2 hours I have a headache with them. Need good vents if you use one of these. They do put out a lot heat though.

I use a small 25,000 btu propane heater, it gets my 2 car garage comfortable (50) when it is in the 20's outside. I did install a CO detector in my garage.

I went to a Dayton G73 electric heater last year. It will run you out if you don't turn it down in my garage. Even though it's hard wired 220 it hangs from the ceiling, built in thermostat and does a great job. I can feel it blowing halfway across the garage. My garage is smaller than yours but I keep the stat at about 50 then crank it up when I want to work and within a half hour or so it's about 65-70 it's only about 12"x12"x12" that's not exact but easy to hook up and does a great job.
They run around $279-$300 and you can see one on ebay if you want to see what it looks like just type in Dayton G73 in the search.
I got mine from graingers for around $250 last year but they've gone up.
