Default Seatbelts save lives! Even in a C3

I was looking thru some of my brothers old pictures and stumbled on these. Some of you may remember the ones I posted of his 69 when he launched it over a bridge upside down in a creek. Well these are pics taken of his best friend (Sig) when the front wheel of his 78 dropped off the edge of I-70 when it was under construction. Guess we were pretty hard on them back then

It pays to wear seatbelts

i hope i never need to worry about seat belts in mine. i wear them every time i drive, but ive got a whole lot more confidence that the steering wheel will stop me then the seat belts holding.

Let me just say I appreciate the seatbelts in corvettes also. A lap belt will not get it folks. You need a shoulder belt also.
Glad everyone made it out all right.

my 71 only has lap belts I want shoulder harness, and a rollbar. it is a vert. that windshield frame would be no protection. someone put in camaro seatbelts I believe, looks like you would have to modify your seat back to let the belt go through. could go with a 5 point harness if I use a roll bar.

Looks terrible, just glad no one was hurt. The only request my wife ever made was, "and you're going to put in seat belts with shoulder belts, right?" While you can question her wisdom in saying "I do" to a guy like me, pictures like this make me realize that she's smart in many other ways.

Before I bought my first C3,I went to a junk yard to see one that had rolled and slid on it's top for 200 feet..I was impressed with the condition of the passenger/driver compartment...intact structually...wish I could find pictures...the driver just sprained his ankle getting feet tangled up in clutch/brake pedals during the crash...

I talked to a guy who rolled a 75 at about 90+ going around a curve.
Car was destroyed, he was fine. He won't buy any car now w/o the 3 point seat belt which he was using.

I just installed 3 point trans am belts last month. I'm in a vert so they will only help if the car does not flip over.

Having raced cars and flown aircraft, putting on the safety belts is my first task upon entering the vehicle/aircraft.

If you have an older vette and want 3 points of restraint, go with the camaro seat belts. At least they make you feel safer. I added them to mine when I redid the interior. They have been going around the seat for over a year now and work great. This winter I am going to modify my seats to make them pass through. Should have done this while I was recovering my seats.
