Default Paint exterior first or redo interior?

I have purchased a new carpet set for my 79 an I was wondering if there would be any benifit to waiting till the car was painted before installing. I plan on repainting in the next 6 months

It's better to have the exterior painted first, so the door trim can be painted without the worry of paint mist inside the car. I had all my trim, seals and carpet out when it was painted.

Default Paint first!

When you consider how much dust and grime are going to come off of the body of your car, removing old weatherstripping (you ARE going to do this, yes? ), and the water-and-sanded-paint mixture that will dry in small crevices (and possible drip on your carpets or seats....?

And then considering that- God forbid- you miss a spot while masking, and get overspray anywhere in the interior....?

I'd strongly recommend stashing your upholstery kit, until the paintwork is complete.

Good luck!

Paint First!

The amount of fiberglass/paint dust during body preparation is just amazing.
