I recently learned of this process while trying to sell some not quite perfect hooker super comp. sidepipe headers and wanted to give others the benifit of the information I obtained. Below is a quote for the super comps which are pretty large and should be the max as for as cost to coat. I'm not advertising or recommending this product, but find it interesting, and post this for information only.

The price to coat the set of headers and the pair of side pipes ,in&out
with the sterling silver finish, is $480+s&h back. If the side pipes
have mufflers/baffles, we would coat them outside only and the inlets.
Add $20 for the flat black,blue or grey finish. We'll need them here for
3-5 days plus shipping time back.If the parts are chrome or nickel

I called them and asked for additional information on the process and recieved this information:

* If the metal is in good shape, don't worry about removing paint or extensive cleaning, they blast clean using aluminum oxide.

* The coating is only a few thousandths thick and will not fill any imperfections. grinding, sanding and fill welding is nessasary on pitted or scatched surfaces. Do not use brazeing as the coating will not adhere to that material.

I hope this helps anyone who is interested in this process and saves them the time I already spent in researching.

I visited the airborn site and was pleased to see choices are available. I also noticed they were cheaper. I think the prep and surface requirements still apply. Anyone know of other alternatives? Good to be able to shop around.
