Default Ecklers Plexi Light Covers: Anyone make them?

http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...dept%5Fid=1353

Folks,

I was wondering if anyone on the forum has made these and if they are available. $279 is a bit steep for a couple of slabs of plexiglas.

I have made a template for the light opening and was planning on taking it to a glass/miror shop to have them cut me some which I expect will be <$100. Any thoughts on the best way to mount them? It looks like the Ecklers unit comes with a mounting frame that must sneak into the opening and attach with double sided tape to the underside of the nose?

Thanks again,
Steve

wow...expensive for a set of near flat covers, it's less than the L88 covers but these are a lot easier to fabricate and IMO don't look near as good. Check out F. Gregg Racing, he sells the L88 covers and buckets (and I think he supplies them to guldstrand and others also), F Gregg is the cheapest I habve found them. Then again you may be able to get them even cheaper, if I'm not mistaking redvetracr has a set of NOS ones

Do you have the pattern you used that you would be willing to share? Yours look great! How did you attach the mounting frame?

I found 2 sets at a swap meet down here. One is clear the other tinted. I can probally get them for 50 even though he is asking 100. The only problem is they are kinds scratched. Is it worth the money?

i threw the templates away, sorry. i've got the 1pc ecklers hood and they come w/the mounting tabs built in. the link u showed to ecklers are the covers for this hood and theres no way i'm paying that price not to mention they're covers are very prone to cracking, quite the inferior product, i know cuz they came on my hood when i bought the car, they're very brittle.

Thanks for the insight. I think I'll try to find a vette shop with an original assembly and trace it to get the best fit. My template is pretty good but perfect would be even better!
