My 73 has these metal front grilles, to replace them it cost big bucks.
Has anyone used a plastic different year grille as a replacement, if so what year?
TIA
Which one do you need?,...I have one useable plastic grill,..the for the driver's side. It does not have the chrome around the perimeter that was unique to 73's.
I need both sides. The metal ones that came with the car are all corroded. I am just wondering if I can use a different year's plastic
grille on my 73. Maybe something off of a 76-79???

The 73 and 74 are interchangable, but that is it. The 73's are black with a chrome leading edge while the 74's are all black. Other years are not interchangable, sorry.
They make plastic grilles for 73-74. I was at Vette Products when a guy came in looking for a grille for his 74. They wanted $200 for an old crappy one. They ended up selling him a set of the plastic grilles for $50. They looked good, better then the corroding originals on my car.
Has anyone tried restoring the original metal grills? There are chrome shops that do fantastic restoration work on pitted pot metal parts. After chroming, you could rattle can paint everything but the faces flat black, or even have them powder coated.
i just bought the last center grill from pipers n o s still in the dusty box, nexer installed on a car,i took the drivers side grill off and the passengers sideoff ,,sprayed them black,,,,when dry i took a q tip and dipped in in chrome paint and painted the leading edge with the q tip looks like all 3 match!!!--------------------------------------------------------------------
