I know it's been a while but do you have any pics of the trip?

On another note when I saw your buddies name, Baxter, my heart sank, our Rhodesian Ridgeback, Baxter, died last summer, he loved car rides and was about the best friend I've ever had... He is greatly missed

I wasn't on CF 7 years ago but its cool to see your thread and your follow up, and that you still have the vette.

I would like to say, I made it ok! It was a fun trip, and I took I 40/Rt 66 most the whole way. I stopped by Phoenix AZ, the Grand Canyon, Cadillac Ranch, Memphis, and probably a hand full of other places I am forgetting. No problems at all in the 69.

Now, after 6 years of college, and a year of real world work under my belt, the 69 is about to make another trip from North GA to my new home in Charlotte, NC, for her frame-off restoration.
I did the same exact thing you did when I was a young sailor, except I had a Mercury Cougar and my destination was Columbus Ohio. It was part of a PCS move and I never considered not driving the car across and i am glad to hear you did it too. I still tell stories from that trip. Like the first night when we were in the mountains of Colorado........

Thanks everyone. I do need to look up the old pictures. I am sure they are on my hard drive, archived long ago. I will look for them this weekend.

As far as the vette resto goes, when I got to GA I got deep into it, and had the body off the frame almost fully disassembled. When I decided to move to ATL and go to college full, I had to stop and it layed like a ruin in my dad's garage. During that time, I got my degree, met a girl, got married, and bought a house. So the vette has missed a lot and need to be re-introduced to my life.

Luckily before I stopped, I had bought a lot of the expensive parts I needed form VBP, and had the frame repaired, powder coated, and on it's way to re-assembly.

So, in a couple months, I hope to get her back for phase 2, over 5 years later.

But for now, some pre-dis-assembly eye-candy:

Einstein was right. We can travel forward in time. 6 years in less than a few posts in this case.

And btw, that's a mighty fine looking C3. You and the other guys who have made the trip should have cross country badges made.

Did you meet up with any forum members on your trip? Looking forward to seeing pics when you get to it and hopefully Baxter is still with us? Thanks for your service!
