Hey BC, that sure is a lot of aluminum foil in the battery compartment, even if it's plastic coated and the battery is held down. Just sayin', I'd be wary of that. I just got a taste myself of what aluminum foil does the other day, when I was masking off the brake booster area and the aluminum touched the hot on the alternator. Instant spark and pop! Unless that's not your battery compartment, then you're good.

it is mostly plastic...now I am going to have to do some 'tests' with a battery and reflectix...this will be fun haha

also 68 used an even more 'foily' type insulation....

Good deal, cause it's better safe than sorry! Tell us how it goes (and you want to account for incidental wear too on the material, I work in Aerospace and we have to deal with this all the time).

thanks...

most of us would have spent the $20 for a replacement tab, but I figured hey, let me keep as much of the original parts as I can, I welded up the tab, also did body work on it and it is in high build prime now, will post pics later

tonight it will get flat black or maybe cast grey

You got me thinking...I specifically tried to arc a battery out, guess what, this stuff is so fake and sucky, it did not arc out, so that is a good thing...thanks for getting me thinking though, it was something worthwhile to check out

If in doubt, check it out! And you did simulate wear and tear on the material too, right? Because the plastic will often be the coating on top of the aluminum foil and when the plastic layer wears away...I'd just hate to see your 'Vette have problems!

Still need to do some final fitting, use the hair dryer to get it to lay down a bit better but is coming along nicely I think...
