just bought BRAND NEW steering valve and BRAND NEW steering cylinder from a member that ended up with them, having bought for a customer and never ended up doing the job..next I will order hoses, then just need 1 more tire, do my wheels over, mount balance and car will be back on ground...in spring, bleed brakes and then hopefully drive, time to get back on my Camaro

I would have loved to take it completely apart but did that with my Camaro...which I need to get back on soon, once I button up the power steering, attention will be back on the Camaro as in theory the Corvette will just need the brakes bled to be driveable this spring...well also refinish wheels and mount the 245 60 15s I just scored that are like new...thanks though!

I had 3 BF Goodrich 245 60 15s in almost new shape, kept hunting for the 4th, we found a whole other set basically brand new, but 2 were slashed, the other 2 were perfect so bought them...need to pop them off the wheels but now I have a complete set with 1 extra! I will mount them black wall out on my Rally Wheels once refinished.

De- on the fact that I haven't installed my new seatcovers/seats yet...
And YES......paint 'em both....I am partial to the unpainted hood (with new paint, of course)
REDIT: I need a wireless printer for my laptop......there is just too much valuable info on this forum that I need for my project.....Between Life & V.A. meds--I'll never remember half of what you & other members have provided!

I have a line on an L88 hood, brand new, high end reproduction that is press molded...so maybe will paint all three hoods.
It isn't easy, I go through ups and downs in motivation like anyone else in getting this stuff done.

Broke down the old tires and wheels, wheels will be blasted and re-sprayed. Wheels appear to be pretty straight and did hold air...I only have two correctly dated wheels, I am not going NCRS level resto obviously so these will work, eventually maybe pick up two more with the right dates

Well.....you've leaped ahead of me! I'm still trying to recover from the tragedy with my Son-in-law....went into the garage to piddle some.
I DID manage to yank all the spark plug wires off the engine.....
re-stab the distributor to get the tach cable out of a bind.....
annnnnnnnnnnnnd....I used your advice on setting the dist. cap #1 post pointing at the #1 cylinder----re-installed the other plug wires....
That baby started up and ran smoother than it's ever run.....even at 3*ATDC !
it even go smoother when I set the timing at 4* BTDC(good starting point)
(And I connected that wireless printer between my chair and the garage........Read posts/copy/print/grab on way to garage/add to Corvette Project Note Binder

Another forum member had new stuff that he didn't end up using, there are plenty of rebuilt stuff out there which I think is fine, but I wanted brand new, never run, all new parts so that is what I was lucky to get

wire wheeled all tie rod ends etc, in real good shape overall, treated with a rust treatment after, then cleaned, then primed - these will go flat or semi gloss, just going for clean, not NCRS - I have all new boots etc, the steering cylinder and valve are brand new, not rebuilt

I can't stand cleaning steering linkage---especially oil soaked grimy linkage.
Don't you get a warm fuzzy feeling when all the tie-rod ends are tight!

THANKS Doorgunner, yeah I hate grease....I like everything clean and painted as much as possible, I would have liked to take the Corvette fully apart but with other projects isn't realistic right now
