Default Ever wonder what happened to "Merlin"??

Was browsing thru some of the BJ auction sales and ran across the "beast" that sold some time in 2005........link..... http://www.barrett-jackson.com/aucti....asp?id=178758

Sold for $73,440........Nut had invested $260,000.....

Truly an interesting animal. A 520ci motor pushing 1360hp....wow.....

Y'all probably all ready knew this, but Merlin was before my time on the forum.....

I wonder if whoever bought it, got it to run right? What was the issue? I can't seem to remember?

Default Merlin

I remember talking to him on e-mail once about why he sold his car after all that work. He said he was not interested in it and could care less about it. Something I could never understand. Way off the other side of me. I'm addicted to mine! Glenn

On a side note, does anybody remember the "advert" for the one in Germany? I think it was a '70, and it had 4 dual downdraft Webers on it if I recall correctly. That thing was a BEAST!! Acceleration, handling and braking all at world-class racing car levels! There was a video posted a while back, but I can't find it now...

It was more of joking around, but I'm sure Monty's TT Vette wouldn't of had a problem with either . Plenty of drag vettes that could handle either ...

Personally, I think it's an awesome car!! But my understanding is he didn't listen to folks in here that tried to give him some good advice, thus the controversy.......

You have to admit......that biatch is fine!!

I always liked Merlin too. It was his money, who am I to tell him how to spend it. I have spent way too much on mine but I can drive mine any time and any where.

FYI - The car is now in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. It has only showed up to one show that I know of. Not sure if it won anything. I'm sure it's sitting in a garage in the burbs now, never to be put on a track or road coarse as intended.

Merlin is before my time also and I've been on this forum for almost 3 years so I know little of the controversy. However, I saw it at B-J last year and, although it was way over the top styling wise, the workmanship of that car was inspiring.

If it was before your time and you don't really know the man who built it, why call him a nut? For all you know he hit the lottery for over $60 million and has fun spending the dough. He could have money hanging out of his a nus . He could still be a member of this forum with a different car. Lots of he could's or he maybe's here. Just be nice. You never know!
