Has anyone lost the keys for their corvette? Had one set and seem to have lost them. Anyone any suggestions? Would Chevrolet have records of keys going back to '76??
Call a local locksmith if Chevy strikes out. A co-worker lost the keys to his Suzuki motorcycle he bought used. He thought "No big deal, the seller wrote down the key numbers." The locksmith made a fork key that worked, but the ignition key code was all wrong. He borrowed my truck and trailered the bike to the locksmith. The locksmith removed the cylinder, read the code off the back, and made a correct key. The original key code he had was the ignition key code for a Suzuki car.
I lost the door keys and am getting another set made from the key code in the rear compartment lock cylinder which is real easy to get out. With that code you can get another set made (supposedly).
No need to post in both forums...call a locksmith, tell them what's wrong, they can probably come out and get you fixed up.
Then go to the freakin' hardware store, and make about three sets of keys. I think between my house and my parents' house, I have 5 or 6 sets of keys for my 77. Much cheaper than a locksmith.
