Default Birdcage Rust

Being that the birdcage is somewhat hidden from view under the body of the car, are there any suggestions on the best way to determine if the birdcage has rust issues and how much of a rust problem you may have?

Thanks for your help.

check the front body mount wells under the kick panels in the cabin. Remove the interior and exterior windshield covering, check the rocker channels(underneath the doors, feel between the body and frame. The odds are high that there will be SOME rust in at least a couple of those locations, unless the Vette has been in the South the whole time. There's some good thread here showing how people deal with the rust, as well as various degrees of rot.

If you do a search make sure to check the "archives" and you will find many threads on this topic. There have been quite a few since I joined over a year ago. Good to really check this out before you buy. In general you will get advice to remove the kick panels, windshield piller trim, etc... Good luck!!!
