Poly Gaskets Upper Suspension -- HELP!!
if you're talking about these, they're the control arm bushings. they would definitely cause some clunking and slop in the suspension if they were missing. If you replace them with rubber, napa or any other auto parts store should have them for $10-15 per arm. there are all kinds of threads on suspension rebuilds if you search through the archives. if you have access to an air chisel, it's fairly easy to knock the old ones out and it cost me $5 per bushing to get the new ones pressed in. If you're only doing the upper bushings you don't even need to mess with taking the spring out, but still plan on a couple of hours each. if you're going the poly route I think you're going to be ordering online, but you can also reuse your outer shells from the old bushings so you won't need to have anything pressed in(someone will correct me if I'm wrong about this). I went with rubber on mine and I have no complaints, the car handles 100x better than with the old rotted out rubber.
