Default Rolling Chassis restoration question

Hello,
I have a pricing question.

I am thinking about sending my rolling chassis to get restored including the 350 Engine (not original, obviously to the '68 crowd). It is a '68 vert with surface rust on 75% of what is visible. What is visible is still solid though. Of course I worry that when the body comes off, all the trouble spots will need major welding.

There is a hot rod shop near where I live that I am checking into and I just want to get the rolling chassis restored, and I will do the body work after they are done. I don't have quote yet, but what kind of ball park should I be looking for. I just want it to be safe and reliable, not needing a shiny, smooth, show-stopper.

You can PM me if you don't want to throw prices out for the world to see. Are there other alternatives I might try besides a specialty Hot Rod shop since I am not trying going for NCRS, Top-flight, Bloomington Gold, etc.

Try and find a Corvette specialist in your area. Suspension and brake fuel components parts will be $1000-$2500, depending on the choices you make. Shop rate is probably $50-75/hour.

A useful rule of thumb is to assume that labor is approximately equal to parts cost.

Total cost $2-$5k

Have you considered doing it yourself? Doing it yourself will cost you time and labor, but the money will stay in your pocket.

I did mine myself. Bought a $139 Harbor Freight Chineese sandblaster and went to work. Maybe $50-75 in sand. It took a while but worked out nicely. Buy some better nozzles, the included one lasted less than a bag of sand.

Default Thanks for the ideas... and motivation!

Thanks,
I thought about doing the whole thing myself, but am feeling a bit impatient. I was hoping to get it drivable and then work the exterior, interior, and eventually performance upgrades in that order.
It boils down to $$, I've been saving for a while so I can go until that runs out, then slow down the restoration pace.
