What size 15" tire will work on my 72 without rubbing or sticking out beyond the wheel lip?
I am thinking 255/6015 anything larger?
I am running stock rallye wheels.

Go to this site and put in what size you have now and then put in what size you want and it will tell you how much taller, widder etc. Then you can make your choice on what will clear. http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCal...?action=submit

too soft for my taste. 1 run 32 psi all around. dunlop GT's (rated for 38 psi max).
i have a 68, of which the car was at the end of the MY and has numerous parts for a 69. the wheels on it are 15x8, but appear to have some rub history in the wheel wells, figured i might get 15x7. these tires even look big...
do general tire shops have the ability to get a standard rally wheel in these sizes? or are these custom ordered? if so, where is good?
They are stock rallyes. 15 X 8. 255/60 will go on 8 inch wheels easily, I was concerned about rubbing in the front on a 72.
I know later C3s like 79, you can run those with no problem at all.
Not true Shark, I had to put 245/60's on the front of my 79 w/255/60's on the rear. Looking at the car you can't tell right off the tires are different size.........A friend said to try 235/60 on the front but they looked too small. You can alway put the 225/70's on all four not a bad look & you don't have to lower the car to fill the wheel well.

If your 1979 came with factory aluminum wheels and had factory spoilers, you can run 255/60 with no problem. Again, if your suspension is stock. that was on my 79 back in the day. I bought one new.
The front fender lip on a 79 with factory spoilers has been removed from the factory.
If the car didnt have aluminum wheels and spoilers the front of the lip went down almost all the way.
check it out.
