I took the 71 vert out for a drive this afternoon and needed to stop for gas. I stopped at a pretty busy station with the normal assortment of cars. In front of me was a guy with a BMW pretending to ignore (i.e. not drool over) the vette. Next to me was a kid driving a rice-burner who probably thought it was a loud Lotus or something.
Anyway, this Honda Accord pulls up next to me and a woman with her little kids in the car gets out to fill up. She starts looking over the vette and says "That is a great Corvette. Is that a 70 or 71?". Better than the compliment was the expression on the faces of the other guys there...
Right after I wrecked my Vette we were pushing it in my friend's garage when a hot neighbor of his walks up and asks whose car it is. I told her it was mine and after some small talk (mostly about what'd happened to my car) she told me to swing by and give her a ride when I got it back together. Better then the girl was the look on my buddy's face (Mustang guy) afterwards. He said she had never once talked to him.
I've got more stories, but that's my favorite. Chicks love these cars.....until they have to ride in them reguarly. Then they want to ride in the TC
The cool thing here was that she seemed like the average "mom out with the kids" and her interest in the car seemed really genuine. It was cool to see her demonstrate more knowledge about cars in front of her kids than all of these guys standing next to their rides...
