not to highjack the thread or anything, but i'd also be interested to see what kind of coverage goes with the prices of various insurance agencies. i just checked my own insurance and i pay less for my 78 vette than i do my other newer cars that arent in the least bit sporty... something doesnt seem right there so i am thinking i am missing some coverage...

Hagerty. My '76 is valued at 15k with them, full cov, no deduct, no mileage limit, and I pay $188 a year. Hard to beat! Car has to have a garage and not be your main ride.

I've never had a claim. But I talked with a guy at a show once who did and he said they were great. The collector car insurance bis can make alot charging little. Think about it. These cars are under cover most of the time, driven on nice days only and then not that much. Rarely do you pay out claims on cars like ours. Thank God!!!
I use Haggerty too. The other advantage in the collector car companies is moving to an "agreed value" policy, which means if you have a total loss they don't haggle over the "worth" of the vehicle which could be a nightmare.
how does the agreed value thing work? do you take the car somewhere to get appraised and then they use that value? avoiding the haggling after already losing the car would be much better.

I went with Hagerty's too, $25K agreed value, about $200/year. They were great working with when I got the policy, no claims, but I hear that they're good there too.

My agent asked what I wanted it valued at and I said 15k. They took several pics of it including the motor and that was it. Your value is a big part of what of you pay with these policys though.

Bodily injury and Property Damage
Agreed value is fine but what $ amount of coverage does Hagerty and others give you for Bodily Injury and Property Damage. If it is minimum coverage the insurer can just write a small check and walk away. If they have a 100K, 300K, 50K stake in it they may be willing to help you fight a lawsuit.
Years ago the normal liability coverage (in Florida at least) was 10/20/5.
10K per person, 20K per accident total and 5K property damage (when cars cost 5K)
I carry 100K/300K/50K on my daily driver to protect myself. Wouldn't I want the same on anything I drive.
Am I missing something here?

Here it is: 250K Bodily per person, 100k Property, 25k Uninsured per person. Like I said, the odds are small that things will happen to this kind of car.
