I just don't know what to think about these? If they catch on they'll probably be big with the rice group.
How's the weather on the island?

So now the latest technological advancement in tire/wheel technology, aimed at decreasing weight and eliminating the need for high-pressure tires (and therefore the possibility of flats) is for ricers?
1) story is about five years old.
2) if Michelin starts selling them, I'm sure they'll put some sort of sidewall on it to keep dirt out of those holes. It's not going to work very well with a rock stuck in there.

Those are actually a new "tire" developed by Michelin. I have read where this may be the future. Minimal rubber, max flex, no air needed, better traction and last much longer. Sounds all good, other than the look ugly when standing still. I personally think if they take that skeleton and just "skin it" with something, they will have a winner.

Theres a program on the Learning Channel ( I think ) that had those tires on a car,, the show is " Future Car" and it is quite interesting, diesel powered race cars, very fast electric cars, nitrogen powered cars,,outrageous body shapes, off the friggen wall designers,,, interesting,, catch it if you get the chance,,,,Peace,,, Moosie
Yeah I saw those on Future Car too. Interesting show. It's on Discovery channel. A four part series. I didn't catch them all but I did see the one with those tires. I wonder what happens to them in hard cornering though. Will they roll onto the sides at all?

Could just be the next hot ticket in both autocross and drags.
Think about it..., for autocross, instead of running over onto the sidewall during a tight corner, the wheel could be designed to flex to keep the tire planted square to the ground. Also, with no air in the tire, there is no pressure change over the day.
With drag racing, the wheel could act as a driveline "shock" absorber, much like a wrinkle-wall tire. Plus, the tire doesn't "grow" so the gear ratio doesn't change as you go down the strip.
