Pics of Right Hand Side View Mirror 68-72?
Anyone have pics of a matching outside rear view mirror on the passenger door of their early C3?
I'd love to get rid of that blind spot with a stock looking mirror.
Did any cars come with one originally?

No early bumper cars came with a passenger side mirror. You could get them as a dealer installed item. There are vendors that sell a passenger side mirror.

The 2nd owner of my car put one on in the early 80's. Looks like it belongs there, but early C3s did not come with them. Personally I like it especially for backing out of the garage.

When I got my 71 a while back I had plans to put one on there for safety reasons. I purchased one from Ecklers and it's a nice quality piece. It also came with a placement stencil so it's easy to figure-out how to mount it. But I just cannot bring myself to install it. The car has new paint and it looks too nice to mess with. So I would recommend thinking hard about doing this before drilling any holes...

I put one on mine also to get rid of the blind spot. Ordered it from TLD in Atlanta.

Thanks Eddie 70 for the detailed pics. I have one on order for the '68, but wasn't sure what held it in place. I guess the grommets do the trick huh? Is it pretty secure? I just hate the thought of drilling my door if it doesn't fit snug.

Of my two '71's one has the passenger mirror, the other does not. I don't think it makes a whole lot of difference. Personally I would not have put one on, but having a car each way is somewhat unique.

I installed a passenger side mirror (from YearOne) on my '72 and love it. It's high profile allows an unblocked view (over the rear fender) and I think balances the overall look of the car.

This works great provided the driver's side mirror is mounted in the same location on the left. Early '68s had the LH mirrors mounted much closer to the leading edge of the door. At some point during production, they were moved back.
No big deal. Measure left side and match right side to it.

My P.O. put one on my 69. I'm glad he did too. I can't imagine driving that car with a big right side blind spot. Besides, it looks good on the car. As far as drilling holes, I have a 69 Mustang convertible and I installed the factory racing dual mirrors and a factory restored luggage rack on the car. Every time I would stand there, looking at the surface in question, with the drill in my hand, trying to build the courage to start making a hole. Measure about five times before you drill.

Those grommets you see are actually well nuts. Just put a little grease on the bolts when installing the base. I put mine on a couple of years ago and have no problems with it. I like the look and love not having that blind spot.
