OK what's the diff between these 2 wheels ?
Can't see them in person, maybe someone else has, cause I can't see a helluva lotta difference between these 2 wheels by Boyd Coddington, the Smoothie II the first one and the Junk Yard Dog. I am about to order the Smoothie II anyone have any opinions ?

It also looks like the Smoothie II curves a bit on the outer face ?

i agree junkyard's look way better on a c3 in my head...the smoothie's are just too much mass if that makes any sense, the jd's look more suitable for a sports car, where as the smoothies would seem at home on a muscle car, or a big sedan hot rod.

Still trying to decide. I would suggest that you go with the Coy's C5s.
If you want to be able to clean all of your rims in less then 15 minutes, get the chrome ones. If you like to spend your time polishing, get the polished ones. For the price you can't beat the c5s.

I vote for the dogs. It seems to have a smooth lip from the spokes to the tire, while the smoothies look like they have a step. The smoothies aren't smooth. I agree with Demon though, if the car is garaged, go with chrome. I'm sick of polishing my Porsches polished lip. I can't imagine if the whole wheel was polished.

I have been looking at the Coys C5's and yes it was my intention to get them in chrome however I emailed them and they said they don't ship to Canada. I tried phoning yesterday and they were at a show, I will try again next week.
It is funny about these two wheels though, I can't find a pic of the JYD's on a car on the Boyd Coddington site where there are many pics of cars with the Smoothies, would almost make you think that people like them alot better

Jokes aside, I noticed what Bee Jay said.It seems to have a smooth lip from the spokes to the tire, while the smoothies look like they have a step. The smoothies aren't smooth
Also, where the dust cap is the smoothies kind of come up smoothly from where the lugs go, while the dogs kind of drop of into the lug area. Because of that, the dogs seem (just in my opinion) to have a little bit more (and I mean a little) of the old school, hot rod look while the boyd's seem to have that super modern machined billet look. I say the dogs win too. That and AVOID BOYD!!!

I think the eye is drawn more to the gap between the spokes rather than the lip or the spokes themselves....both these wheels have vintage elements, but both have been modernized....
The gaps in vintage wheels were more rectangular with sharp corners, as in the pic of the Torq Thrust D's below (circa 1965; notice how the spokes are similar to the Smoothie):
The difference is:...do you want the gap to look square (the dogs) or do you want the gap to look rounded (Smoothies) ? Both would look good on a Vette.....
I agree with the comments that polished are difficult to maintain....I owned a set of polished Boyd Smoothies on a daily driver for 3 years, and every year they got more difficult to clean.....meaning an hour every week.....
That's really why I like Ralley's with stainless steel trim rings, and Torq Thrust D's with painted spokes (which I might put on my Vette for a vintage look)....I'd rather be driving than polishing

The JYD's seem to be rounded and bowing inward, unlike the fenders on our C3's.
