Just bought my first vette
After 20 years of waiting, I've just bought my first corvette
72 350 4 speed. And it's red, everyone knows red ones go faster. I still have to wait to get it shipped to Australia, it will take 2-3 months. It will be worth the wait.

I found the car on the forum, got it from 72tornado. As you can imagine it was quiet a bit more drama for him to sell the car to me, and I must admit it was a little nerve racking for me to buy a car so far away, without seeing it. However this guy was a pleasure to deal with. He answered every question promptly, he sent pics of everything including things he felt was a fault, even down to paint chipps around the horn button. He also organised the road shipping to the docks in L.A., and sent me pics of it loaded on the truck. He even kept track of the car during transit and let me know when the car was delivered.
What more could you ask for. Guys like this are an asset to the forum and I felt that I needed to thank him publicly for all the trouble he went to in making this a smooth and hassle free deal.
Thanks mate.

You're lucky they've changed the laws down under. This month's "Vette" magazine has an article on how an owner down there had to change his over to right-hand drive and that looked like a MAJOR PITA! The article said that since he finished, they've changed the laws where you don't have to do that any more. Lucky you!
Anyway, welcome to the best brotherhood in the world and welcome to the Forum. I know you can't wait until your baby gets down there but stay tuned here and find out all the things you'll need to know when it gets there.
Oh, you probably won't need it much down there, but don't forget to

Looks like you're in for some real fun 'down under'. There is an Australian chapter of NCRS , if that might interest you. They could offer you some local support and fun. Good Luck!!!

Great looking car. What a great first Vette too. Many of us are guilty of starting with projects because of the price only to learn that you're better off starting with a completed one. Looks like you've done just that. Congrats

Thanks guys.
I have plenty of pics that will have to keep me going till it arrives. It will take a crow bar to get me out of it when it gets here though.
Cars over 30 years old do not have to have the steering converted, but there are a number of things you have to change. It depends on the model, but conversions start at around AUS$10 000 and go up. Later models cost a LOT more.
Ghostrider1,
It costs around AUS$3000 to ship from L.A. to Brisbane. I havn't been to Ballina for years, used to be a real nice spot.

Good on ya Mate,
I have had a RHD 72 in Perth since 92, only way to go. Did you go to the Vette convention on the Gold Coast over Easter?
Cheers,

Thanks a lot for the kind words Doug, and you're entirely welcome. You've been an absolute pleasure to deal with as well. It's good to know the car that I've put a lot of time and effort into is going to someone who will appreciate it every bit as much as I did - if not more! Definitely stay in touch, I'll be waiting to hear how you like the car once you finally receive it.

Welcome!
G'day Doug,
Welcome to the Forum, it's a great place to hang out. Plenty of nice folks who'll be only too pleased to answer any of your questions. Even a few Aussies on here.
