My Old 1979 - Still Looking Good
Did a classic/antique car show yesterday. My former 1979 and my 1967 were parked side-by-side. I bought the 1979 in 1986 just after it had been stolen and had incurred minor collision damage. After many years of restoration and driving pleasure I sold it in 2003 when I went over to the dark (green) side and bought a C2. The old girl still has those gorgeous curves. Pretty car. In many ways I miss her. Thought I would share with you folks.

This is the third car of three in that small area; a real stunner. A 1956 with 265cid engine, 2 x 4bbl carbs, and a three-speed manual transmission. Note the cable tach drive on the generator. Yes, GM used DC generators until about 1962 when they switched to AC alternators. How things have changed!
Participation in the event was limited and I believe the intent of the organizers was to have C1, C2, and C3 representation. The building in the background is the US Embassy in Canada's national capital city.
BTW, all three owners are Forum members.

Just another Corvette guy
Hey Paul,
Great looking cars and a nice venue to display them. Looks like the weather was perfect for a show.
Best,
Greg

People put down the 1979 because of high production numbers (53,807). But if you want a lovely car that is very dependable, look no farther. They are a bargain and a treat. Get's the thumbs up on the street every time you drive one. Heck, it's a C3.
*Edit*- Just after I finished the restoration in 2000. It was a show car.

The spoilers?
BTW, your cars are always some of the cleanest I see on the forum. I remember well your 79. I had one when I first started coming to the forum.

Yes, it's RPO D80 spoilers. They came mandatory on the Pace Car in 1978 but were available an an option in 1979.
No, I never did a body-off on that car. The frame was in great shape as the car never saw winter use or road salt. In fact, during the many years I owned it, it only saw rain on two occasions.
