Default Bumpers

Hello everyone, new member here. Has anyone had any experiance with "Trufit", "Flexifit", or "Flexiglass" bumper covers? I've pulled the old ones off of my 82 and don't want to mess with ureathane again. Thanks,

Lots of threads on fiberglas bumpers (all of them you mentioned are fiberglass, two of them have a flex agent added): http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1603168

ahoover did a post on fitting them.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ghlight=BUMPER

I bought mine from Willcox, made by Toledo Pro. They fit horrible when I first fit them to the body. I ended up re-using the original hardware after I welded new bolts in place and blasted and painted them. I used a step drill bit to make the holes in the bumper cover for the hardware.

To address the fit problems, I had to make some relief cuts in the bumper flanges, add some kitty hair to the voids in the relief cuts, tape the body, then bolt the bumpers back on using some muscle to form the bumpers to fit close to the body and tighten the bolts down. When I took the bumpers off, the kitty hair had dried and the bumper was shaped correctly to the body.

Here are the relief cuts I was talking about.

Here is an example of the fit when I first fit the bumper.

I purchased both of my flex fit bumperd for my 77 from Ecklers. I also bought a toledo pro front bumper cover. I had cracking problems with it. They replaced it and It cracked again so I'd you go to a flex cover I would highly recommend Ecklers I think the cover is thicker and fits beter. Just my $.02 cents worth.

I had many problems with getting a front bumper. Had to send 3 back. Finally I spent the money and purchased Ecklers GM replacement bumper. Needed fitting but it was pretty close. You get what you pay for !!!
