Everything on this car has been powdercoated, with the exception of these two pieces I did last night - I spray painted them. I *$&#ed up my first set...I tried to powdercoat those - I learned my lesson. You should have seen my dad run when he opened up the oven in the garage to see what I powdercoated. He told me that I just created a bomb by heating them up - not only that, but I read in the service manual afterwards that it is extremely dangerous to heat the impact absorbers I got these replacements off ebay.

The posi case is almost done - I just need to go to my friend's machineshop and get some 0.031, 0.032, 0.033 and 0.034 shims made and test fit them. I'll try and snap some photos of his machines and some of the parts he makes...its really cool.

I have been following Jeremy's restoration here on the forum since he started. I think if we had to vote on a 'forum member of the year' award, Jeremy would win 'hands down'. How many 18 year olds do you know that will take on a project like this? His level of professionalism, talents, maturity, self esteem and personality makes for a pretty classy guy. With Jeremy's permission, (which I already have) I am going to feature Jeremy's restoration on my own website. I would love to add other member's comments to the article so if forum members would post or email a couple lines about this gentleman, I would appreciate it. Thanks very much.

OMG
I have missed this thread for awhile. Your work is unbelievable and you are an inspiration to this old fart. One heck of a job, my friend, one heck of a job. When I saw you powercoated the rear energy absorbers. I was scared you were going to post some bad pictures. Glad we didn't go there.

Can't wait to see more. I have to forward this to my son. He's taking auto in college and their rebuilding nine motors in nine weeks.

As a young man, Jeremy, and I say this without even bringing the car into the equation, I hope there are more young people like you to take care of our Great Country in the future

I can't believe the quality of work you're doing It's going to be an awsome car.

It's great to follow along as you go through this. I'm working on a 67 MGB that got stalled after I got the 68 roadster but you gave me some incentive to get going again.

Any thought to putting together a web site on the work?

Keep posting!

I don't really have enough time to make a website for my restoration - I wish I would have started this thread when I started tearing **** apart...that way I would have documented everything from the beginning. Installed steering knuckles, dust shields, caliper brackets and test fitted the brake calipers. This thing looks sick - I never expected it to turn out this good...and I am being honest when I say that. I also can't beleive how friggen heavy this chassis is with all the parts on it...its like a truck. I guess that's how they built them back in the day, strong and sturdy.

The funny thing is that the C5's and C6's have gone through so much to keep the weight down, yet they still weight about the same as a stock C3..

Really? I'm assuming its because the engines are so god damn big...or am I wrong?

To be honest, I don't know why they are so heavy. The LS engines are much lighter than the SB 350's. Almost everything on the suspension is aluminum and they virtually have no frame. You obviously know the C3 suspension very well and I don't have to tell that it isn't light. Maybe it is the creature comforts that weigh the cars down? With all of the aluminum and lighter materials that the new Z06 has, I am surprised they cannot get the weight down to atleast 2800 lbs. That is why I am quite ashamed of the new ZR1's. I maybe a little naive, but I was expecting a car with no creature comforts that rode, handled, and performed like a race car.
