It always looks cool when they pop the hood and the engine block is the same color as the body. it should stay reletively clean unless you plan on driving in bad weather, and from the looks of your build this will not be your daily driver. If your engine bay will be black, that yellow block will stand out and impress any onlookers for sure

I like the chevy orange or black on an engine. I have seen a few painted yellow and it looked kind of cheap and cheesy. Yellow engines are for Caterpillars.

Trust me - this thing is getting driven like I stole it. I am going to be driving the **** out of it until the day I die - no trailer queen here!

My compressor pump blew up the other day. This is the second one I have destroyed in two years, mainly due to the fact that they run constantly and can't keep up (they were only 9.5 cfm at 90 psi). Sandblasting sucks a lot of air. I finally said screw it, and went all out and bought myself a new monster. This thing sucks 18.5 CFM at 100 PSI - it practically laughs at you when you try to drain the tank, and it keeps building pressure. This one won't be overworked...it just sucks too much air. The install took me a few hours, had to work into the night to get it done...very tired right now. But now she is ready to go. On with the resto!

Lol, i wasn't trying to imply anything about a trailer. I believe in driving them too! I don't think I have ever owned a vehicle and not done at least a few smokey burn outs in it lol. I already told the g/f to be ready for some searious tire frying doughnuts when the '69 is done.

Like the new pump too btw, and keep up the good work!

I say go all out and send the block to the powder coaters and get it done using the new Endurashine so it looks nearly chrome.

Took a little break from both the vette and work yesterday. It seems like all I do is work my butt off 24/7. My grandfather was in town, so we went fishing, and caught about 50 pickeral in under 7 hours - so much fun!

Then I finished some more repairs when I got back. I'm so close to finishing this firewall!

I still can't believe how meticulous you are for your age. You have all the O.C.D. you need to be a great machinist.

Meh, I've always been like this. Even when I was in school...took me 10 times longer than everyone else to finish my homework.

I still haven't decided what I want to do with my life yet. I'm seriously considering opening up a vette restoration shop...I really am. But before I even attempt that, I would need to work for someone else first. We'll see.

My Grandaddy taught me how to fish and he lived on a great place for catching chain pickeral. You may have caught 50 pickeral, but the fish you are holding is a walleye also called marbleyes. They are in the pearch family, less bony than a pickeral and easier to clean. Nothing better than a day on the lake with Grandad! I've been watching your work and learning, Great Job!

Yeah, but we call them pickeral up here...or walleye. Anywho, I had a blast. I've been fishing my entire life, but this was just insane. So insane we are going again in a couple of days.

Will update more tonight - I will be doing some more glass work.

My new parts from Mike finally arrived last week. I was able to start mocking up the bonding strips on the firewall. I slowly have to screw the cowl down, twisting and shaping it along the way.

And I finally bonded that stupid vent hole shut - installing hot rod air, so no need for this anymore.

More to come tomorrow!

I will be bonding this part in. I drilled 1/8'' guide holes before removal of this piece when I started the firewall. I also sandblasted it...no more rust. This part will eventually get painted with the rest of the firewall in the next month or so. I can finally see the end of the tunnel.

Mike told me to bond these pieces in (#1 mounts), as the rivets alone will not keep them in place over time. The holes will eventually egg shape from vibrations if not bonded in place. It took me forever to prep these parts, and clean up the panels after gluing. The bonding adhesive I use is called Marine-tex. You have to mix it up on a mixing board before application, and the ratio is key...

and, as I mentioned before, I bonded this metal plate in earlier today...

More tomorrow.
