Default 69 427/400 a/c car Idle solenoid??

Hello all,

I have recently aquired an unrestored '69 L68/c60 convertable car and it is missing among other things the a/c idle solenoid and bracket. I have aquired an original solenoid, but need the bracket. Does anyone have one for sale or good photos or possible willing to part with it for a week (holding money and a fee of course) for me to dimension for a one off reproduction?

Other than this issue, is this a desirable car or have I been duped into believing that I have aquired an affordable collectable????

Highly desirable car, if documented.

Bracket has been referred to as $5000 bracket, only used on 400 hp with air and 435 hp with automatic.

Hope these help,

Steve

Original brackets are next to impossible to find and typically go for around $5000 when they do come up for sale. There is a reproduction that has recently come to market for about half that amount. Please email me if you are interested and I'll see what I can do about getting you one.

Depending upon the degree of originality, documentation, and previous owner substantiation, it is quite possible that you purchased a very desirable car.

Stan, I believe someone in the latest NCRS DriveLine had an ad for these. I think that they are now being reproduced. Price, of course, wasn't in the ad.

Paul,

Yes, I spoke with the gentleman who is reproducing them at the National in Boston this year. He went through a lot of effort to get this part right.

The price is about half the cost of a real one. Only the guys with L-68/C-60 or L-71 (or L-89)/M-40 cars have to worry about this though... I figure maybe 500 cars tops.

Default Have you checked...

some junk yards for 68/69 Chevelles or Impalas? Believe it or not, there were some parts Chevy used on all the models. Since I am not familiar with the 427, I am unsure if the solenoids/brackets were the same.
I can tell you I found the correct A/C idle solenoid and bracket for my 72 a/c LT-1 on a Chevy Impala in a junkyard in Hazelton, Pa. It worked and they only charged me $5 for the whole thing. I cleaned it up and it made it through an NCRS inspection.

You have a 427 tripowered car. Yes, it is VERY desirable -- especially by me. If you aren't sure about it, I'll happily trade my 350 car for it.

Unfortunately, the problem with this bracket is that it has no other applications other than 1969 L-68/C-60 or L-71(L-89)/M-40 Corvettes... That's it. I estimate you're probably talking about 500 such cars with maybe another 10% (and that's probably generous) additional brackets for service replacement stock. That's 550 parts made... Ever.

Odds are, a good number were simply removed when the car was new and discarded. Fast forward to today... If you have one of these cars and want to restore it, you're going to need one of these brackets (if it isn't still on the car).

Which leaves us where we are... People willing to pay $5000 for an original bracket or about half that for a reproduction.

These help tremendously (thanks). I am not in the position to Pay the $5000 or even half that at this time. I plan on taking my time with the car and doing it right. I just traded my '68 convert NOM 4spd and some cash for it. I know the car well. Original motor was out of it when I first saw it 20 years ago and the body has had some amateur work done on it. The original block was stored in the guys shop with the heads on a 402 in the car. No carbs or intake were left. My uncle purchased the car 20 years ago and started collecting parts, sold the car to my brother who wanted to go fast and not really interested nor could he afford to restore the car right. I traded my NOM car and some cash so he could go as fast as he wants and not destroy an original car. The original muncie case was replaced, but the rest of the car is there. I don't really know how to go about documenting the car since there is really nothing to start with. I know the block is for a 427/400 manual trans. the car is equipped with AC and tilt/tel column red on black with white soft top and black vinyl hard top.

any help with docmentation would be appreciated.

Default idle solenoid bracket

I know this is a very old posting, but I have this bracket and hardware for sale. Was removed from 1969 400 hp / 427 4-speed w/ air car.

You might want to post it in the C3 parts for sale section.
