Should I try to clean up my exhaust manifolds
I just recently purchased a 69 and the manifolds are really crappy looking. I have asked around and most are telling that cleaning them up is a lost cause and that they will return to the current condition after a short time. Is this true? If not, what's the best product to use.

I bead blasted my manifolds and then painted with Cast Blast high temp paint. You paint them and then cook them in the oven for something like 30 minutes. I did it while the wife was away for the weekend
They still look like new after several thousand miles. They don't smoke or stink like some products will. They haven't flaked or discolored either.

remove them off the motor and glass bead them clean.
As mentioned, do NOT touch them with your bare skin, wear gloves to handle them after glass beading them.
There are many products to coat them but Eastwoods Factory Gray is pretty much the closest to the correct factory look.
I did mine almost 2 years ago and they still look like the day I did them.

I wire brushed what I could then used por-15 hi temp and baked them on the grill for half a day. Still look great after 5 years. Looking back, I would have bead blasted them first for a truer finish. Live and learn.
