FlowMaster 40's Pics and videos
Guys,
I'm going to replace my exhaust and would like to go to Ceramic Headers - 2.5 inch exhuast with Flowmaster mufflers, I have not seen this installed and I noticed the mufflers are a little smaller and more of a box than the original style muffer....
Does any have have some pics of what they look installed? If they look out of place I will look for a more original shape muffler.
Any one have any videos of this setup for an example of Sound? my buddy has a 67 Camaro with Flowmaster 40's and its sweet...
One other question, What is a good ceramic Header for a 69 small block 4 speed.
Any comments, pics, videos or Header suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Many Thanks!

I would suggest listening to some Flowmaster mufflers before they are installed. Their sound does not please everyone. In my opinion, they tend to resonate too much, and have a higher pitched raspy sound to them. I personally prefer Magna Flow mufflers, and actually replaced a set of Flows with a set of Magnas after I wasn't happy. Because I did not do the research before hand I ended up spending twice the money for exhaust.
I'm not telling you not to get Flowmasters, I'm just saying make sure you hear them before you decide to buy them in case you are not totally happy with them.

Flowmasters 40: here you have pics from an unusual point of view...
They didnt last long under my '77 so i swap them for some more exciting hardware
(Flowmaster's sound was ok, but i had the uncomfortable sensation that, at high revs, they used to leave behind quite a few of my engine's 575 ponies...)

I liked my flowmasters until I thought it would be fun to take a 750 mile Road Trip in the vette and when I got there I couldn't hear anything for the first hour or so.
I've had compliments about how good it sounds at the track, but all from people outside of the car. When you're IN the car, it's just LOUD.

I have Flowmaster Super 40's that have the improved chambers and find that they are comfortable for interior sound. They do get a little loud when you put your foot in it. I like the sound from idle and at cruise. My system to 2.5" duals with the Flowmasters. I installed the 2.5" for an engine upgrade.

I agree. I had a set of Flowmaster 40 Series Delta mufflers with a three inch exhaust and Hedman headers. They sounded a little too raspy for my taste and had quite a resonance at around 2000 rpm. The Flowmasters did look cool under the car they way they were angled and sounded great at idle. I just replaced them with Hooker side pipes with the reverse flow muffler inserts. Those sound great by the way. There is no resonance to them at all.

Here are my Delta Flow 50s installed. Loud enough when on the go pedal but quiet enough so it does not call every cop in town. Also they did a nice job installing the mufflers flat so they don't hang down like the stock ones do.

Thanks,
Q's 68 do you have a photo from this perspective?
I would like to see how it looks from behind the car? I kinda like the stock angle but the flat installtion may be the way to go with Flowmaster mufflers.

I do have a picture like that - just not handy at the moment. I will upload it when I get home this evening.
The super 40's tuck up nicely and I'm really happy with the rumble

eeehhh, i'm pleased with mine.....if i had to do it over again, i'd buy some magnaflows after putting one on my truck and hearing others......my 40's don't sound bad, they drone like crazy.....i don't mind cause it's more of weekend car not a daily.....
my personal opinion is the magnaflows sound really nice and not too loud not too quiet....and a good deep WOT sound too!
click on the videos in my signature, the one when we first cranked it was with the 28year old stock exhaust, but the drive around is with new exhaust (2.5" pipe),the flow 40s, and turndowns at the rear....i'll end up replacing one day, but not in a hurry

Thanks, but it's too loud for anything longer than half an hour. I'm getting too old for all of this noise. I'd like to keep the flowmasters because everyone goes ape crap crazy when they hear it. Maybe a small set of resonators upstream or something will help. I already covered the back section of the hatch with fatmat.
