Let's get this straight, so new readers won't get confused again.
Original production 1970 left and right front grills incorporated studs for attaching lower edge to body, with upper edge having a recessed hole for mounting a screw for attachment. The lense housing was drilled with a hole for the mounting of the fiberoptic lense and boot. The front lense was clear using an amber bulb.
Original production 1971 grills incorporated 3 recessed holes, using screws for attaching to body. The lense housing still used fiberoptics. Front lense was clear for most of the year, late cars may have had amber (orange) color lense, which then would have used a clear bulb.
Original production 1972 grills incorporated same 3 recessed holes with screws for attaching to body. The lense housing were not drilled for the fiberoptic light monitoring system. Amber lenses were used with clear bulbs.
The GM service replacements are really only correct for the 1971 model year, but can be used interchangeably between all three years. This is because they do not have the studs for attaching points like the '70 model did, and they do have provisions for fiberoptics which the '72 model did not have.
