Default Rubber Moulding

I am going to replace the door window rubber moulding on my 76 tomorrow. This is the strip of rubber that runs along the front edge of the door windows, (beside the windshield), and the rear side window moulding, (that runs up and down just above the door handle).

My question is; how do you remove and intsall these rubber pieces? Are they just press / glued in place? Are there any screws or clips?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I replaced all my weatherstrip last year. Some of them have little nibs that push into place to hold the strip in the right location. There is a sealant that you can get from and auto parts place for "glueing" the weather strip in place.
I would up glueing all of mine.

The weather strip pieces you've mentioned are glued, and screwed (front), and glued and pop riveted (rear). The drawings in your AIM would be a big help to you.

Yes, if you haven't already bought an AIM they are indispensible for working on these cars. I happen to have an extra one for a '76 if you are interested, PM. But as already said, that rubber is help on by 3M weatherstrip adhesive, some screws and maybe some rivets. 3M also makes a weaterstrip removal spray, works great.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Guys. I do already have a 76 AIM, but that is what confussed me. It clearly shows only gluing the back weather strip on the very bottom 1/4" of the rubber. I didn't see how the upper section was mounted. I also can't tell how to start removing the old molding.

Hinge pillar weatherstrip: There is a black metal strip that is pop riveted to the body. The rubber weatherstrip is inserted in and glued to this metal strip. The bottom of the weatherstrip is glued to the body and 1 pop rivet is inserted at the very bottom of the weatherstrip from inside the car. UPC 1, Sheet F20 in my 71 AIM.

Alan

On my 77 there was (1) screw for the rear gasket - If I remember the gasket slid up in a channel and had a screw at the base. I think (3) for the windshield + (1) at the top near the t top. I had to poke around to find them. Only way I knew they were there were the holes for the screws in the replacement gaskets. I remember the front was a PITA.
Not bad just took a lot of patience.
