Depends what your style thoughts are - personally, I'm not a fan of the flared look that is on this car. But some folks dig that kind of thing. Will take some skill and dollars to reverse that part of the car's look.
It's a California car and probably does not have rust.....BUT.....the paint and interior are in "poor" condition [not average], he doesn't even show the engine bay [one can only guess how bad it is], the flares run so close to the tires on the back, it has to have very heavy spring or it's riding on stops. That car is a $6000 car MAX. This car should NOT be your first Corvette unless you can do your own body work and paint.

He does show it
While I think there are better cars out there, he does a great job in my opinion of listing everything and showing enough pics. Better than some sellers that just show a car shot and they are done with it.
The video is a nice touch too.
If I "were" in the market for a car this would be the kind of ad and attention that I would like to see in an online purchase. (The ad, not the car)...at least he puts it all out there and you know what you are buying.
He has more pictures that you can see by clicking on the link on the ebay page
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
I agree he is putting it all out there, his description leaves a little to be desired though, he is missing key words like crappy, seedy, beyond repair etc.
This car should NOT be your first Corvette unless you can do your own body work and paint.
That might be my second one, I already have '73. Anyhow, taking into account that I would like to have the original appearance (or as close to it as possible - sidepipes are ok), maybe I should keep looking. Looks like a lot of extra money, just waiting to be spent on this '72 to make it at least look good from the outside and safe to drive.
Well, he is pretty straight forward with the photos. They tell a lot! THere isn't a single mechanical system or body component that does not need repaired looked after. The one responder said if he had an extra $20K sitting around he might consider it. I doubt you could bring that car up to five foot appearance for that!
Oth, the engine mechanicals appear all there, which is surprising. Things like the TCS, idle solenoid, etc.
I wouldn't look at this car unless it had a price in the mid fives.
both passenger and drivers footweels appear wet after washing so something leaks (badly) - the e-bay pictures give you a glimpse but check out the links provided by an earlier poster.
Agreed the car needs to be cut in price to make it worth it... but I personally wouldnt be afraid of it. Lots of surface rust on the undercarriage, looks to be just that though.. no rust through visible and ample thickness at frome openings.
Not sure its an original CA car though. thats a lot of surface rust. at 5 or 6k I'd jump at it.. but not at its present price.
Look for a car that has already been restored that you can get insptected before shipping it home. Restoration of paint, interior, plus all of the new parts it needs will cost you very big $$$$ and it may take years to complete. Find one you can drive and enjoy from day one.
From: I'd like to propose a toast... to internal combustion and wind in the face.
The flared fenders and the "glassed-in" side grills are the things that turn me off the most. I could service the remaining issues myself. I'll admit the car is not as good as the seller would lead you to believe and that it's a little over-priced. I was wondering if anyone has a link to atleast one "numbers-matching, rust-free, running and driving $5,500 chrome bumper Corvette. My personal number was somewhere between $7,000 and $8,500.
Seems like a pretty honest guy to me. Looks like a 72 with a few mods like flares and sidepipes, which wasn't uncommon thru the years. Not sure what it takes to get the flares to go away, but looks like it is pretty much all there. I don't think the price is too outrageous for a chrome bumper car. I wish mine was a chrome bumper car. Just one more opinion. Cheers
I agree with most that the price is too high.. I'd pay up to $6500 for that car.. It all depends what you want. If you want to make this a very nice car and are unable to do most of the work yourself, you will have to put at least $20k into it..
If you just want to make is a driver with acceptable paint, I'd say that you'll need to spend about $5k - $10k on it..
To make it a driver, you'd have to spend about $2k on a Maaco paint job. Then you'll need new carpet and seat covers for about $600 (if you go with vinyl seat covers).
The chrome looks ok, so I don't think that re-chroming is needed for a driver. The exhaust is rusty and needs to be replaced which adds another $1500 - including install to the price tag.
The Cragar's are rusty, so the wheels have to be changed.. You should be able to find a nice used set of wheels on Ebay for about $400 or so.
The rear suspension needs at least a new rear spring as the one installed is flat. That's about $100 for a steel spring and new shocks are also a good idea at that time - $70.. The front sits too low and new front springs are needed for $80 or so.. I'm sure that brake work and steering rebuild would also be a good idea which probably adds another $1000 to the total bill. Engine compartment can be cleaned up with a chinese polished intake $150, a new carb ($250 off Ebay), chrome water pump ($100) and chrome valve covers $60.
I'm sure that is some more work needed but at least $5k - $10k will have to be spent to make the car a fairly decent driver that looks good, at least from a few feet..
Yeah, it is a little rough around the edges but I totally dig it. You guys are saying it is a 5 - 6 Thousand dollar car???? Bring me a chrome bumper driver C3 in that condition that looks like that and I'll take it for 5K. I love the flares and the wide Cragars. Looks bad-*** to me. I would trade my 80 for it as long as it drove/stopped good.
