I Couldn't Help Myself
My wife was watching a movie after dinner. The temp was in the upper 40s and the rain was still a few hours off. I grabbed some keys to move the cars around and vacuum them out. When I started the vette, I knew I wouldn't be cleaning any cars tonight...

Yeah, it's funny how that works. I decided to take the vette and make a parts store run the other day. 4 hours later, I was back home. Never made it to the parts store either.

I'm jealous. It was a beautiful day but my car isn't going anywhere for a couple more weeks.
It's getting a new crate motor and the tranny rebuilt.

I got off work yesterday at 6pm. it was so nice, and the rain washed the salt off the road.....I had to do it . I fired her up for the first time since I put her away last November . As she warmed up I dusted her off, and listened to her come alive. I slowly backed her up down the driveway, and backed her into the street. As I drove her down the road the smooth throaty sound was so sweet. I didn't want to over do it, so I took her out of down to the grocery store parking lot and turned around and headed back. As I approched the house I thought to myself....yeah, right, and continued up the street. People would look as I drove it slowly past them knowing some wished they owned one. I didn't even turn on the radio because I was injoying the sound she was making, happy to be free of the garage for the first time this year. I did finally return home and slowly put her back in the garage hoping for the next nice day.....and there will be more.

I've definetly been guilty of the several hour run to the store. Come on warm weather. It's April and it's supposed to be warming up, not cold and rainy!

I too am ready to get my vette out. I just wish I had the conversion completed and ready. I will get there, hopefully sooner than later. I would like to get in the car before it gets hot.

Interesting thread! Living in Florida I feel kinda guilty - it's Vette season year round! The wife and I went out "vetting" (a verb) last night and actually considered parking for the summer to get some work done (window gear, cowl leak, seat removal/repair, paint prep, etc...) because it's starting to get hot (mid-high 80's). A/C works fine, but it just doesn't seem right driving with the windows up and T-tops on!

You guys are killing me, I to am very close to getting my car out about 3-4 weeks. This winter I got the trailing arms and spindles redone and new yokes in the rear end and now at the buffing stage of my new paint job done in my shop 2 weeks ago and its killing me to not be testing out all the new stuff. But it also snowed last night so Im just a few weeks from driving and cant wait. This should be a great summer of alot of vet trips. Next year is new interior and im done with the car, well at least thats what I tell the wife. I dont think Ill ever be done still have to do suspension upgrades and wheels and tires and and well you get the idea the list might keep getting longer
Best Regards

We all are. Here in Michigan, on hot summer days in the 90s, I tend to drive my Lincoln with the cooled seats. I'll take the vette out for a spin when it cools down in the evening.

OK! You guys just talked me into it. It's 52 deg. and I'm going for a ride. If my wife gets mad, I'm blaming it on all of you. LOL

After reading this thread last night I just HAD to take the 'vette this morning on a previously planned 60-mile round trip. (we were going to take the minivan, but cooler heads prevailed! )
Sadly, the vette ran a bit hotter at 70-75mph (around 220) as we had the A/C on. Runs 180 with A/C off. Another reason to park it for the summer and get to the bottom of that!
Could a bad fan clutch cause high-speed overheating??
Thanks, guys! ...Alan

Worked on detailing mine all day for a Corvette show next weekend! Wow, it look awesome. When I was done I so wanted to take it out for a spin as the weather was beautiful. I chickened out as I didn't want to have to go through all that again. I just hope the weather is nice next weekend or it was all for not!
