I recently inherited a 1969 convertible 350/300 that's been sitting for about 2yrs. I would have about a 30 mile drive to get it home. I was wondering what I should do/check (oil change etc.) before attempting to drive it?

i would change the oil, and hope it does not have much gas in it. Fill it up with premium and see if it will run.

Check the brakes after you get it running. Check all fluid levels. Expect to need a battery.

I figured I would check all fluid levels but that just seemed too easy. There is actually very little fuel in it.

I have always wanted a classic but never had the $$$ to get one. Unfortunately I had to inherit it. Thanks go to my father-in-law. RIP.

I guess it's time to stock up on some books & tools!!!! if anyone is looking for me......I'll be in the garage!

You are one lucky guy. He must of thought a lot of you giving you two of his most prized possesions.
As mentioned change oil and check brakes. I would think about pulling coil wire and cranking to get some oil pressure before starting.

Order the 69 assembly instruction manual (AIM); order an owner's manual; you may want the 69 chassis service manual.

I honestly would drive right to the nearest gas station and dilute that 2 years old gas with fresh stuff..but only after I check all the fluids and top them off ...BUT for a 30 mile drive home I'd wait until I go tit home before I changed all the fluids..UNLESS you expect to be caught in a lot of traffic

Check the brakes..all of my C3's need the brakes bleed every spring..and 2 of the 3 need power steering fluid ..once i drive the cars 100 miles the power steering valves seals swell up and they no longer leak for the entire summer driving season ..just got bo expensive to keep replacing them...much cheaper just to buy a little fluid and fill them up every spring..

I'd also check the Carb for leaks...floats still stick and gas will leak out...BEFORE I ever left the driveway or put the hood down...

Better have your wife FOLLOW you home also...

Change all the fluids and make sure it is mechanically sound first, then worry about cosmetics last.

You may also want to get a copy of the NCRS Judging Guide. ( I am not concerned with having mine judged, but it's a good way to check the car's systems and functioning, etc.)
