Default Best in dash speakers for the C3 Corvette?

What have you guys used in the past? I want to keep with the stock look and have sound come through the dash. Am i limited to square speakers? What types have you guys liked?

db can ring in here with better specifics... but I'd say don't waste the money. I bought very high quality 4 X 6 speakers and they sounded like crap... the basic story is that there's just not enough room up there for decent magnet size.

I'd suggest cutting into your kick panels. Search around this forum and you'll find lots of how-to's on what will fit the kick panels. I think you'll be much happier with the sound. (Obviously this is not an option for NCRS types.)

While I do think kick panels speakers will get you the best sound options, I can understand wanting to keep a stock look. Nothing will blow your doors off, but Polk makes a good plate speaker. Don't expect any mid-bass...you won't get any...from any kind of 4x6" speaker. Highs will be all you get.

They should fit okay.

I've got a set of pioneer 3 way 4x6 and they sound amazing. Remember a big aspect is the radio you have.

Instead of cutting into your kick panels, why don't you make a small enclosure at your kick panels , there you can have the mids and tweets pointing at you as well,

you could always buy another set of kick panels to cut into, then make a speaker quick connecter, and swap out if needed.

Dash speakers are good for treble/high-frequencies...but not for bass. The windshield does a good job of reflecting highs to the listener; but you will need to add mid-range/bass speakers to the kickpanels (along with the dash speakers) if you want better quality sound.
