Are my "Slam-n-Jam" days over? (new transmission)
Got my 81 back yesterday. New clutch set, input shaft, flywheel and a total rebuild on the tranny.
Smooooooth as glass. No complaints. In fact, it is so smooth that now I can hear every rattle and squeak I never knew I had.
But it feels "soft". I'm sure I will learn to manipulate it better over time. My old tranny and clutch sounded like grinding metal, louder than the exhaust!
But it was snappy. Crisp, pop the clutch and the tires were a smokin".
So, have I moved up to the level of the mature, responsible vette driver? Or are there adjustments that can be made to customize the feeling and response?
All parts were basic OEM type replacements.
