Default red interior with black carpet?

My carpeting on my '81 ripped when I was installing my 5-spd manual tranny and I need to replace it. The car is silver with a medium red interior. I don't mind the red interior, but I was thinking about changing all of the carpeting to black. The front of the dash is red, but the top of it is black, and the door mats and seats are red also.

I know this is totally opinion based, but I would like some thoughts on the color combo. Should I leave the door mats red or change them to balck also if I do the black carpeting? The seats are staying red though... to expensive to change.

thanks

Maybe someone could photoshop the colors in mind and reverse them so you can see what it would look like!

I think it's a pretty nifty idea.

Default Black carpet

I have done that on my wifes Corvette.
Check it out here:http://www.fvn.no/amcar/wife/wife.html
I will also change the door panels to black, as well as the steering wheel.

Best regards

I have all red interior purchased for my '71 including carpet. Was sitting out in the garage with my girlfriend about a month ago and mentioned I wish I had ordered black carpet instead of red. Think the red interior will really pop on the black carpet and won't stain as easily. Couple of weeks later was my birthday and UPS shows up with black carpet. Great girlfriend... just wish she'd been around when I was still in the talking stage of the ZZ502 swap. Oh, that's right..... I was still married then.

thanks for all of the feedback everyone, i'm sold on doing it.

I have 1 question, how did you only get the carpet black on the door, like in this pic

I thought it was all one piece... custom job?

I did cut out the red carpet and glued the black on.
This is only a temporary thing. New black door panels are coming soon.

I was on ecklers site today because I had to order metal replacement fastners\inserts for the thin part of the arm rest where it connects to the door, and I was checking out the black steering wheel also. Looks very nice.

I took the subtle approach and only had the seats changed.

but in my '69 Camaro, (was all-red also), I did seats and carpet as well.
to me, looks much better

I like the black and red combination and say go for it.
Make sure to post some pics when you do it and best of success.

Here is what I have done with my Gray/Titanium 81 Vette:

As you can see the interior is 2-tone, the carpet is red, but the floor mats and cargo mat in the rear are Black. I have the floor matts in the front with the embroidered C3 emblem and I keep them covered with clear plastic matts most of the time.
