Default '77 or '79?

I found these two corvettes and wanted some opinions on them. The first one is a 1977:

"1977 Corvette, 350 AT, new paint, many new parts, runs good, new brakes, tires, rims, includes extra set of rims, have all parts and receipts, retro stereo. The upholstrey is in good shape. I put a new carpet kit in the car approximately 5 years ago. The vehicle has approximately 80K miles on it. It has a new radiator, rotors, exhaust, tires have about 3k miles on them. I have not been driving the car so has had minimual maintace lately. Last oil change approximately 1 years ago. Has been driven maybe 200 miles since. $4,200"

And the 1979:

"I have a nice corvette recently painted and just needs very minor tlc
new carpet and paint , new rebuilt engine 4bolt main, 2 sets of rims, many hours of work put into this thing, receipts for all work , new starter, stereo, rear spoiler, front spoiler less than 12k mi on engine, needs minor work done, runs good. $4,500"

My question is which one is better? Are they good deals? Also does anyone know what the average maintenance costs for C3's are? I really like the style of the body but I need to make sure I'm not making a bad investment. Please throw what other information you have my way.

Thanks

I'm partial to the 78-821/2 corvettes because of the larger rear window and more useable space. I think the price on both is good, you can put a couple thousand dollars in them and still make some money on the deal if that's your goal...I bought mine for the classic styling and plan on keeping it for a while (forever). There is no book value for 30 year old vettes, but from my experience here in Florida, most C3's 74 and later go for about $6500 -$17,000+ depending on work done to them and not convertibles (verts) - just my opinion though. Steel bumper vettes go for alot more, depending if they are BB vettes or not...I would take the yellow one because of rebuilt motor- I rebuilt mine for about $5500, but put all forged internals and fully balanced/blueprinted it...hope that helps...DDBS

Thanks for the info DDBS. My goal is to have a nice car that I can enjoy for a long time. Right now I don't have a lot of money to do too much work to either of them, so I've been leaning towards the '77 mainly because I don't know what the 'minor work needed' is for the '79 (haven't gotten a reply yet).

Anyone else have any good opinions or advice for me?

At $4500 you better make sure they are not rotten...frame birdcage body mounts things like that...when someone wants to sell a car they paint it...take a good look at each one & if you don't know what to look for search the forum or take a friend who know cars
