Astro top... still sucks?
my t tops are beat up... really beat up... one actually flew off the car on I-80 when it was being towed to get the goodwrench motor in it 5 years ago.. ive been eyeballing the astro top... my t-tops require pennies and whatever loose change i find along the floor so they seal good and reduce the wind noise at freeway speeds...
so has anyone recently bought an astro top? i think they've redone some of the crapy parts, judging from the old posts i read..
i plan on painting it red to match the car.
soo lets hear it...
thanks

I bought mine a few years ago and love it, it does what it was designed to do
I think the painting idea is a cool thing to do.
I was looking at it and noticed you can take it one step further and mask off the under side and lay some fiberglass / resin in there. Once it cures, pop it out and smooth with body filler.......then cover with a piece of vinyl to make a headliner for it.

I recently broke my third pace car glass top. Cost's me $500 everytime. I've decided to heck with it. The new Vettes come with acrylic, don't break, and are super lightweight. I'm gonna buy the two piece Astro top made with original Corvette hardware. I gotta save some dough first.

The previous owner of my '69 forgot to tighten one of the original tops. It flew off at highspeeds and was fine. Oh wait, I spoke too soon. A car ran over it, then it wasn't fine... But it has to be durable if it can survive that fall.
Anyways, I use a raincoat softtop and love it.

Replaces Factory T-Tops for 1968 - 1982 Corvette. (1968 - 1977 slight modification).
What modification is needed for '68-'77?
