New Paint - WARNING: Lots of Pics!
Thought you might be interested in seeing the new paint job on my '74. The guys at the body shop did a fantastic job, and my car is gorgeous! I decided to keep it its original color, Silver Mist. We were very surprised when we found out the "real" silver mist was totally different from what had been on the car!
Before the paint job:
The shop found lots of problems during the initial prep - many had been "fixed" using bondo:
A repair done by our body shop:
First coat of primer:
Second coat:
In the paint booth (lighting is different in the booth):
Putting it back together:
Finished - a very overcast day and you can still see the shine! (And, no, that's not me - that's our daughter!)

Looks great! Love the new color much better than the previous color. Kinda looks like the C5 Pewter.
My 73 is in the paint shop. Dropped her off back in August. I am ready for her to be home.

Thanks for all the compliments! We also redid a lot of the interior - recovered the seats and replaced the carpeting (installed reflectix as well). Lots of work, but it's well worth it!
We installed Hooker headers and pipes on it. The covers are Steele Shields with the Stingray script - love 'em!
It does have a pewter cast to it, surprisingly enough. What color are you painting yours?
They had planned on just sanding down the top layer, but when they started working on it, they found out there was only one thin layer of paint on it so they took it all the way down.
Congrats on your daughter's upcoming wedding! How fun for you to drive her in your Vette! Actually, this was after our daughter's wedding day. It's a *new* thing they're doing called "Trash the Dress." They don't actually trash the dress - it's the pictures they would have liked to have made but were afraid to before the wedding for fear of ruining the dress.

My guess: $4,500. It seemed pretty straight to start with. It looks simply beautiful. I really admire quality paint and glass work, because I definitely do not have the patience, not to mention ability, for it.

Love that color!!!! Absolutely stunning with those wheels!!! I didn't know if I would like those side pipe covers when I saw them in the catalog (some things look better in the catalog) but they look great on your car!!!

I went with Torch Red. It was originally Metallic Yellow, but was painted red many years ago, and i didn't want to go through the trouble to change it back to Metallic Yellow.
I hope mine looks as good as yours when it is done.
