Default Info on softop install

I'm looking to install a softop on my 73. I have the old top off and the frame is solid. I'm getting new tacking strips and etc with the top. Anybody have any info on what I'm in for.

You might want to invest in a step by step dvd from one of the vendors. I havent seen the one from Al Knoch but have seen one from ecklers and it looks like it could be difficult at times but not to hard.

Appearance is key for the soft top. This is one of those jobs where professional expertise is worth the price. If you have someone in your area who can do the install, it's worth considering.

I agree with Mike, the top installation looks pretty difficult. I've watched the fellow from Al Knock install them at Carlisle. I don't see how a first timer could have satisfactory results without a lot of expertise and luck.
Regards,
Alan

PS: Seatcovers are a breeze compared to a top.

the soft install isn't that difficult. biggest problem is getting a tack strip that fits the rear top bow channel. took me about one day afer i spent 2 days thinking and fretting about it.

Me and a buddy did mine ourselves. We used the Al Knoch video and took our time. Actually, it was pretty easy and straightforward. Look great. I'll post pics later.

I want to thank everyone for their input. I've done restorations but never a top. Always left it to a pro. I have the video and the factory service manual for a 73 and it's very detailed. I'm gonna give this a try. I have a good helper and his is the finishing touch to a body on restore. This is my car so if I mess up it;s on me.
