Now when you see the different colors of white and black on the front think of it as a sold color... just did that so you can see lines. Got a project 76 and want to paint it with something different

if you paint the front clip a different color then the rest of the front, its going to look like you replaced the clip and didnt paint it....same goes for the hood...stripes yes, hood different then the rest of the car, no.

Plus, just painting the hood a different color or a chunk of the front end a different color looks like there isn't much painting skill going on. The front just looks like it has a bra on.

"Different" isn't necessarily "better." These C3 cars in general go from zero to tacky pretty quickly. Think this one through.
The front "color" isn't divided by the clip. It still looks pretty bad, though.

as well. Before you paint it , look at LOTS of paint schemes. There's a "show a pic of your car" thread going now, look through it. These are classy cars and deserve classy paint. You don't want it to look amaturish or look cheap even if it's just a driver. Study the flowing lines of the body design. The paint scheme should complement it, not distract from it. It's your ride and you have to like it first. Just keep in mind, if you ever sell it, most people don't care for poor or tacky custom paint jobs.

Dr. Pokey's "Hurst" Corvette
I looked at Dr. Pokey's car. And again. And couldn't figure out why it looked oddly familar. Then it hits me - it has the same colors and "feeling" as some of the black & gold Hurst Oldmobiles from the late 60's - early 70's. I think it is one of the most interesting (and nice looking) color schemes that I've seen.

My personal opinion would be no stipes or for just keeping the stripe contrast to a minimum (i.e. painting the hood scoop & at most the strip on the tail). By dividing up the car with contrasting colors and lines it detracts from all the amazing curves (in my eye are what makes a C-3 so unique and vuluptuous). My opinion is to let the body speak for itself - no need for stripes or gimmicks to draw the eye away from the heart of the matter. That's just me though and is coming from someone who can't even stand to a pinstrip on any of my cars.
