As a friendly warning to all Corvett fans I want to offer you this warning!
For goodness sake do not use Dependable Auto Shippers. I got a quote from them. They were high, weren't 100% enclosed, and wanted 3 weeks after picking up a car to deliver it. They kept calling me and sending me email every day wanting to pick up the car. I told Silvia that I did not want them not to pick it up, and they did anyway! I had told the P.O. that Exotic Car Transport was going to pick it up, but he wasn't paying close attention and let the first truck to arrive take the car.
I called DAS within 3 hours of them taking it that I wanted them to bring it back. I was put on hold, for 40 minutes. I argued with them until 5 PM and then they said they didn't have any drivers who could take it back. I told DAS I'd report it stolen if they didn't return it. They said they'd bring it back in the morning, but it wasn't back until 3PM. When they brought it back it was a mess! It looked like it had been stored in a woods. It was muddy inside and out, and covered in leaves and twigs. There is also a new chip in the hood.
Use Exotic Car Transport. They are top notch, and no more expensive. They are 100% enclosed, and are very quick to deliver. I've used them twice and have been thrilled both times.
How did they get the address to pick it up, quotes are usually done based on zip code, Don't you have to have some signed paper work, and probably a deposit before they pick up a car????
They will be going through some tough times with the D.O.T. soon due to their poor safety record. When you get close to or exceed the national average for out of service violations it like a written invitation to have the D.O.T. audit your operations.
Whenever you choose a carrier, check out their safety record first. When a carrier scores high in driver and vehicle out of service it shows they have little regard for safety and maintenance. The information is public on this web site.....http://www.safersys.org/

I have a lot of questions on that OP story as well...
I used them five years ago...Oregon to Florida. Took 21 days (quoted 10-14 days) and cost $1,668. They quoted enclosed transport, but it was picked up at the seller's house on a flatbed and delivered to my house on an open transporter. Understandable with door to door service. What bothered me the most is the number of terminals it went to (tracking available via the internet) and consequently the number of times the car was driven on/off various trailers. I can only assume they were enclosed because the car was not filthy. No damage was found, just all the imperfections I missed during my pre-purchase inspection.
i called das last week and a person said das was no longer in buisiness and they are a new company with dass phone #. i think they called themselves RELIABLE but not sure. asked me where i got the #, i said from internet. anyway i was going to use DAS when i bought my vet 2 years ago. they gave me great price but kept telling me there was no truck in the area to pick up car so i finnaly paid a guy to throw it on a single car trailer to deliver it . oh, das made me pay up front when i gave them the ok but they reimburst me when i cancelled with no problems. i did hear that they will let cars sit in yards for weeks until they have enough to make the trip more profitable for them.
I used DAS twice in the last several years and absolutely no problems or complaints. Both times pickup was on time, delivery was EARLY, car had been washed, customer service was great. Wonder what happened??
On the phone they kept repeating how they've been in business for 54 years. I don't know why that is supposed to impress me when they refused to cooperate for 3 hours, then didn't keep their word about returning the car in the Morning the next day. It appears they store the cars in a gravel pit between legs of the journey. All of this dirt gets dragged inside the car with each new driver. If this is how you want your Corvette to be handled I guess that's your priveledge.

You would think they'd want some kind of paper work but there was none. I gave them the address on one of the phone calls they made when I was getting a quote. They kept calling and calling - they use an automated machine to leave a message even if you don't answer. I returned the call and spoke to Silvia and told her not to pick up the car. They were more expensive, wanted much longer to deliver the car than anyone else, and were not fully enclosed. They weren't even in contention for getting this job.
SO basically you are saying they stole your car for a day and then returned it...why don't you press charges?
The previous owner willingly gave the car to a company who did not have any paper work signed by you, and he did not even bother to call you when the company arrived to pick up the car? If that is true, that man should not be allowed to reproduce.
The PO called me after he realized his mistake, which is how I found out what happened. He was very sorry for his mistake. He realized he gave it to the wrong people when the correct company called to pick it up and then he remembered the information I sent him.
If its the outfit from Florida, they have no insurance and are micky mouse. Should be out of business by now. Got a nickle and dime car lot also in florida.
