Default Electric Wiper Door Kit from Eckler's

I received an electronic catalogue email from Eckler's today and was browsing thru and found this. Anyone seen it yet?

For $1,340.99!!

Would anyone consider using this? I'm not!

That is just a linear actuator that can be purchased for about a $100.00 and a pretty box around it. There isn’t much to them. I can’t see how they justify the price.

Ecklers just isn't what it used to be. I think about 90% of their parts are made in china now. Some may have a different opinion, but I will never buy anything from them again.

Man, there's got to be a cheaper and smaller electric solution than that!

When I got the email, I had to laugh. I built the same thing for my 69 for about $70. Got the linear actuator off ebay, welded up a bracket, and a switch. Did not have to modify my car in anyway, and its much more reliable than the vacuum system that continually ripped holes in the wiper door vacuum actuator seal.

What is a linear actuator, and what does it look like, and where can you get them? What parts do you need to do this? Any instructions?

Email me, and I can see what I have in documentation, maybe some pix of the install....

actuators off ebay work, about 40 bux or less, 6" toss is the smallest one, works fine.....

see my posts in other thread for parts concepts...

I know. I thought cool when I got the e-mail and looked at the kit then laughed my azz off when I saw the price. Whats funny is they have a kit that looks the same for the headlights and it's "only" $999.00. That kit has 2 actuators in it. What is Ecklers thinking? My vacuum system works fine thank you very much.
